Introduction to our Network

The Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services Board of Athens, Hocking and Vinton Counties (317 Board) creates a Network of Care for people who need prevention and treatment of mental illness and/ or alcohol and drug addiction. The 317 Board is a local mental health and alcohol and drug addiction authority for the tri-county area and is made up of eighteen citizens representing the three counties. The 317 Board's role is to design policies, evaluate programs, access funds and monitor services for those seeking help.

The Board receives State and Federal funding from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services. In addition, the Board receives funding from local tax levies passed by the citizens of Athens, Hocking and Vinton Counties.

Each year the 317 Board contracts with local agencies to provide a comprehensive selection of mental health and drug and alcohol addiction services throughout the three counties. Top

Do I need to live in the county where I receive services?

Yes, with some exceptions. Some of the services within the Network are not available in all three counties the Board serves. If you need a service that is not available in your county, but is available in another county in the Network, arrangements can be made. Each situation is evaluated differently.

How do I know that my records will be kept private?

Each agency in our network must comply with State and Federal laws regarding confidentiality. Your personal information, including your name, will be kept private unless you or your legal guardian authorizes its release. For children under age 18, a parent or legal guardian must consent to a child's receiving services and authorize the release of any information.

What are the costs of the services?

The costs vary from agency to agency. Medicaid cards are accepted for certain services. Agencies will also accept insurance payments provided by employers, personal health insurance plan or other third party payors. Sliding fee scales are also available at our agencies so consumers without insurance or comprehensive coverage may pay for their services based on their income.

How long will I have to wait for an appointment ?

An appointment will be scheduled during your first phone call to the agency. Network agencies will attempt to schedule your first appointment within five working days of your call.
